“It was back in ’93 when she went wild down island way…I can’t go back there, too many skeletons on that beach!”
The lyrics of Sunny Jim’s original song are based on a true story, it happened on Grand Cayman. A young woman on her first trip to the island had way too much fun, and when offered a return trip, she blurted those words!
Grand Cayman was our home for almost 12 years (1987 – 2000), so we love going back to visit. Next June we're taking our good "amigos" Mark Mulligan and Kelly McGuire to the island and invite you to join us! There will be music, dining, dancing, beaching, sailing, diving and much more. Grand Cayman legend George Nowak, "The Barefoot Man," will also be joining us for the partying.
GRAND CAYMAN MARRIOTT BEACH RESORT
Centrally located on beautiful Seven Mile Beach, the Marriott Grand Cayman Resort will be our beach house for the week. The Caribbean Sea is just steps away! The Marriott has undergone a $16 million renovation and the inspiration for the new design embraces a ship-to-shore concept. Décor reflects a spirit of openness, sense of adventure and Cayman’s strong connection with the sea. Central is the Anchor and Den which connects the lobby, restaurant, and bar. There is always something happening in this area where guests can mix and mingle in big comfy seating areas. We’ll enjoy alfresco dining at the oceanfront restaurant and bar, The Veranda and The Vista Bar. The perfect place to watch Cayman sunsets. The Marriott also features a lush tropical courtyard with a turtle lagoon, walkways and seating nooks. You can relax in the seaside pool and enjoy Cayman’s crystal-clear waters. Our travel partners Travel by Georgia have negotiated excellent room rates and perks for our group, so please take advantage of it.

Known for its upscale lifestyle and Caribbean charm, Cayman is known for outstanding customer service, understated luxury and a relaxed atmosphere.
Grand Cayman is the largest of the three Cayman Islands, and the commercial and financial center of the island nation, a British Overseas Territory. The sister islands are Cayman Brac and Little Cayman, about 90 miles away and accessible by island hopper flights. Grand Cayman is a renowned Financial Services Center so the islands enjoy a high standard of living. The exchange rate between the US dollar and the CI dollar is fixed, so it doesn’t fluctuate. A US dollar is valued at 80 cents in Cayman, and the US dollars is welcomed everywhere, as are your credit cards. The island has a great range of restaurants and cuisine, both affordable and world class. Cars are easy to rent and a convenient way to get around. Driving is on the left and roundabouts are everywhere. Our hotel will have plenty of taxis available. Cayman is a relatively crime free destination but take normal precautions anyway.
FLIGHTS
Located in the Northwest Caribbean, Cayman is very accessible because of its proximity to the US. Daily flights to Miami are just over an hour away.
Cayman Airways, the national flag carrier, offers non-stop flights to Tampa.
A short hour and a half flight later, you can be on the beach for sunset.
Most major carriers offer regular service to the Cayman Islands, including; Delta, Southwest, Jetblue, American Airlines, United, British Airways, Westjet and more.
Cayman Airways also provides service to the two Sister Islands Cayman Brac and Little Cayman.
AIRPORT TRANSFERS AND TRANSPORTATION
The hotel does not provide airport transfers, so you will need to book your own. There are plenty of good operators on the island, here are a couple.
Car Rentals remain a good deal on Grand Cayman. Rentals are reasonable and accessible, both at the airport and at the Marriott. Because Cayman is a British Overseas Territory remember to drive on the left and mind those roundabouts!
Taxis, buses
There should be plenty of taxis available at the Marriott when you need one. Local buses also operate along West Bay Road (Seven Mile Beach) and they are fairly reliable.
There is much to do on Grand Cayman, so we make sure to leave plenty of free time so you can explore the island on your own. The Marriott is in a great location on the beach, so if you can spend the day relaxing by the pool or on the beach. If you are feeling adventurous here are some activities to consider. We recommend you book your water sports activities through the Red Sail Sports dive shop at the resort. You can also book all other activities through the convenience hotel concierge.
