To celebrate the troprock music scene with local talent, and to honor a songwriter who immortalized our Southwest Florida lifestyle with his music, Sunny Jim is hosting Florida-based artists Jimi Pappas, John Patti, Beth Travers and Dave Signs, in his hometown of Osprey, Florida. Also participating is songwriting legend Brent Burns of Orange Beach, AL.
The idea behind the Suncoast Serenade is to gather our songwriters In Osprey, to experience the “old Florida” feel and give them time to collaborate and write new music together. We hosted our first Suncoast Serenade last year, and it was such a success that we decided to do it again. We look forward to new music from our songwriters, but guests can also submit song ideas and lyrics for consideration (no guarantee that they will be used).
We have also added intimate workshops with the songwriters where guests can join in to discuss the songwriting process, the art of studio production and the artist's own personal experiences in the music industry.
A Special Tribute to Jim Morris
We will top the weekend off the weekend with a tribute to our friend Jim Morris, the artist who immortalized our Southwest Florida lifestyle. Sunny Jim, Jimi Pappas and John Patti will perform the night’s final set with Jim's music.
Our host hotel is Casey Key Resorts in Osprey, Fl.
LIMITED BEACHFRONT ACCOMMODATIONS are available on Nokomis Beach with our VIP Package.
Sunny Jim has called Osprey, Florida home since 2001 when he left the Cayman Islands to enjoy paradise in the U.S. A multiple award winner from the Troprock Music Association, he travels the country performing his original music. But James is always happy to come home to Southwest Florida where he has part of the local music scene for many years. Among his favorite memories are performing with his good friend and fellow songwriter, Jim Morris, who lived in Punta Gorda, Florida.
Born in Oklahoma, raised in Arizona, and currently a resident of Gulf Shores, Alabama, Brent Burns is a poet laureate of the beach. A decorated combat veteran, Brent is the first American entertainer to perform for troops overseas after September 11, 2001. He has performed in Italy, Australia, Mexico and coast to coast in the US.

As a singer/songwriter Jimi's original tunes are a blend of Americana meets Folk/Rock and they bring out his love of tropical places. His covers and originals are influenced by the early 70’s singer/songwriter movement. Jimi also picks classic rock gems and gives them his acoustic treatment. Jimi Pappas has six CDs of original music, and he as won four TRMA Music Awards: the Horizon Award in 2012, Song of the Year, Musician of the Year in 2013 and 2014.
From Singapore to Key West, Manhattan to the Caribbean, crowds of all ages and nationalities have seen John Patti bring the steel pan to the forefront of musical entertainment. Whether in a solo performance or collaboration with bands, John’s intriguing stories and skillful performance leaves long lasting and memorable impressions with any audience. With a true artist like John tapping the mallets, the pans take on a new life of melodies and styles. His ability to blend Latin percussion and steel drums into various genres creates a refreshing twist on popular hit songs and an exhilarating performance guaranteed to get anyone dancing in their seat.
