A Legendary Rail Route, First Passage to the West
Sunny Jim and Brent Burns will welcome you aboard the Rocky Mountaineer in August, 2024 which will take us as a group through the vibrant cities and incredible landscapes of Western Canada. Train is the most exciting way for us to explore this region because rail tracks wind through some of the most scenic wild areas in British Columbia and Alberta.
Our week-long adventure begins in Vancouver, a beautiful city on the west coast of British Columbia, between the sea and the mountains. Vancouver has thriving art, theatre and music scenes and we plan to explore it together before boarding the Rocky Mountaineer. Our travel package includes hotel stays in Vancouver, Kamloops and Banff as well as the train trip, plus private shows by James & Brent. Here are the details of this fantastic train trip to the Canadian Rockies.

Since 1990, Rocky Mountaineer has been taking guests through amazing landscapes on their luxury trains, with expansive glass dome coaches and their outdoor photo platfroms so you don’t miss any of the breathtaking landscape. This is the only passenger train service connecting Canada from East to West, and our guides will tell us the stories of the area all along the way. We’ll enjoy breakfast with views of Frazier Valley with its green landscape, towering mountains, the Frazer River and the raging whitewater of Hells Gate. Then comes a 3-course lunch prepared by chefs and our guide will continue to fill us in on the history of the area. At the end of day 1 we arrive in Kamloops, a charming town, between 5:30 and 7:30 PM.

We’ll see grasslands, lakeshores, high mountain passes and go through remarkable tunnels that form part of the railroad history of the Canadian Rockies. Up we’ll go, ascending into the mountains while enjoying a glass of wine or cocktail - maybe some original acoustic music? On the menu is a gourmet lunch prepared with local produce and food. As we approach Banff we’ll see a Castle Mountain, a landmark named by early explorers who compared it to a medieval castle. Then we arrive in Banff with its splendid views of rugged mountains, lush parks and amazing wildlife. Our expected arrival time in Banff is between 7:30 PM and 9:30 PM.
